Not So Funny Bone

I know many of you out there have thought the same thing. Why do they call that part of your elbow that you hit a "funny bone". Everyone looks in astonishment and triggers the comment "ow, did you hit your funny bone?" If your like me, your thinking, what the f*** do you think I hit? I personally think it is funny when someone else hits their own funny bone because it makes me chuckle inside but of course it ticks me off when I hit my own. Not necessarily at their pain but the wonder why of why is it called funny when I don't find it funny at all when I hit mine? Did you know it is actually not a bone that you hit but a nerve in the elbow called the ulnar nerve? Does sound better then telling your buddy, "ow, did you hit your ulnar nerve?" A comment like that would probably either a) make your buddy laugh therefore making it funny because of your bonehead comment or b) really piss him/her off therefore the funny may turn into a painful beating by your buddy, therefore turning the funny part on you!

My advice is to just chuckle and and say "ow, bet that isn't too funny!"
