A funny little thing I caught myself doing, well ok this is just one, but is when giving out my work "800" number I always proceed to tell the recipient the 800 part. "So, let me give you our 800 number, it is 800-xxx-xxxx". Duh, if it's the 800 # that would proceed it.
There's an argument to this now though as there is 888, 866 and probably quite a few more. I don't proceed to give our other "800" as "let me give you our 866 number", but I proceed to say "let me give you our 800 automated number, 888-xxx-xxxx".
Maybe I should just let them know I am giving them the toll free number and proceed and honestly who really cares anyways, most of us have unlimited minutes or a huge minute bank. If were calling from work do many people pick the most cost efficient number? Probably should but does it really happen.
