MLK Recommitment Day

I never thought I would actually listen to what Al Sharpton had to say but the man made sense to me the other day and actually gave me some goosebumps. On Friday April 4th, 2008 marks the 40th anniversary that Martin Luther King Jr was taken from us. At the exact time this Friday, Al Sharpton will be leading a recommitment march at the site of King's death. The idea behind the march is to get people commit to various volunteering duties and commitment to making the world a better place by getting back to values that God has laid out for his children. The commitment can be as simple as the PTA or the local food bank, all it takes is less selfishness with our time.

What got me the most was his comments kept all things away from race which this world needs. We need to get past all this issues of the past and build the future, isn't that what he wanted? We need to take hold of the future or something else will for us.

Anyways, something to think about.

Michel - good words. And that Al Sharpton has moments of shear genius in amongst his rant'n and rav'n ... those preacher folks can be mighty powerful! Every day I thank the lord for those brave people that have gone before me and paved the way, standing up to people and our crazy society ... challenging the system and the way that things are supposed to be. I'm grateful and thankful, I just wish more people would have listened. I need to volunteer - I haven't done much for anybody in a while - it makes me feel better when I do.

Me too, now writing something like this somewhat makes me accountable to myself now, huh? Thanks Stacy, hope everything is going well at the big house (corp, not the "big house", lol)
