Walgreens Makes You Work for $5

I always wondered how this would work at Walgreens. I am jealous of the story I just read, why couldn't I have been the one to get into this tangled mess? Please read below, I think this person may be a Mind of Michel groupie?

the sign on their cash registers that say "$5 if we fail to issue you a receipt."has anyone got the $5?and how exactly do you interpret this? (seems pretty cut and dry to me)so (obviously) i experienced this at walgreens today. i bought something for the free rebate so i really did need my receipt. and i usually check before i leave the store, but of course this one time i forgot and wouldn't you know it, got home and didn't have it. so i went back. they took it out of the trash, uncrumpled it, gave it to me and then i pointed at the sign and asked for my $5.(i mean, first of all they have the policy, so they should be offering it to me, and secondly, i have been secretly waiting for them to forget, lol).well a huge discussion ensued and she was fighting every step of the way - this is the head manager im dealing with. she was like, well, thats for when a receipt doesn't actually print out, or if we had emptied the trash and it was gone, but you have your receipt now so you were ISSUED your receipt, lol..so, then she excuses herself for a minute without telling me why, and goes to her office and actually reviews the tape of my purchase, comes back and tells me i was in such a hurry to leave that i didnt give the clerk a chance to give me my receipt, lol (wow, right?)so it finally took me to say, you know, semantics aside, i cant believe you would waste your time over $5, as well as risk my future business. and then she said, well I'll give you the $5 but...." and THEN she gave me a gift card instead of the $5 which the sign says (it doesn't say $5 gift card). and if that wasnt enough, there was even another interwoven issue - when i returned to the store, i went ahead and returned something else i had (because i wasnt coming from home on my first trip to do it then) so she was trying to say i wasn't forced to come back JUST for my receipt since i came with a return, so i shouldnt be entitle to the $5. i honestly thought they would just agree, open up the register and give me $5... but once i saw i had to earn it, well, i did... not only am i not going back, but i am writing a letter to corporate about this - both about my ordeal and the , apparent, misleading nature of the sign...
