Nailconfusion

So are they finger nails, thumb nails, pinky nails? Do they have dual names? Should I say "I''m going to clip my fingers nails" or should I say "I'm going to clip my finger nails, thumb nails and pinky nail"? Toe nails have a confusion in themselves, you have the big toe and the pinky toe. Where did the word "pinky" come from?

All I know is they keep growing and most of my hair doesn't, just unfair, I don't even want long nails.
